SEKEM
Belbees, Al Sharqia, Egypt
Learn MoreChamomile from SEKEM is produced by passionate and hard-working farmers that use ethical, eco-friendly, and sustainable practices. These small farmers use biodynamic cultivation methods which they have found to be healthier for the environment, their families, and their own lives while they work on the land.
The cultivation of chamomile helps sequester carbon in the soil. This in turn helps reduce the negative impact agriculture has on climate change. Economy of Love certified farms are actively building healthy soils to increase natural fertility, which creates a more sustainable farm in the long term. Since this chamomile is sequestering Co2e, it is actually saving up to 0.28 USD per kilo! This means that it is cheaper than products that emit Co2e, but so often the price tag doesn’t reflect that.
In addition to promoting soil health, the brand also focuses on the health of their employees. All factory employees have access to extracurricular courses in art, acting, music, geography, and many others that promote well-being at work. They also have the opportunity to partake in educational programs that give employees the feeling they are part of a community striving towards creating safer work environments, a sustainability mindset, and space for wellbeing.
